When Apple did not license its operating system 25 years ago it did not get the benefit of open-architecture. The App Store today has changed this. The Iphone is great(er) because of the thousands of specific apps in every sector. Only an open-architecture could deliver such innovation. In this case it seems Apple CAN have its cake and eat it to. Being open and easy to to App developers I believe will solidify them as market leader for the foreseeable future.

We shall see Edmund. I expect that largely due to the abundance of choice in selecting devices and carriers, Google's Android will finish 2010 closing in on Apple market share.
